May Board Update
May 21, 2007
Dear Friends of Sitka,
I'm pleased to announce that Carrie Hoops has agreed to step in as Interim Executive Director of Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. Carrie replaces Douglas Beauchamp, who tendered his resignation to the Sitka Board of Directors in early April of this year.
Carrie brings a wealth of experience to this position, including the management of Artquake in Portland for many years, the leadership of Literary Arts, and service as Interim Executive Director to the Oregon Council for the Humanities, among many other positions. She comes to Sitka as a representative of Technical Assistance for Community Services (TACS).
Meanwhile, Sitka's summer workshops are thriving. We thank the workshop Instructors for their commitment and contributions to the 2007 season. We hope you will join us for a class this season (visit www.sitkacenter.org or call the office at 541-994-5485 for more information). The Resident Artists for 2007-2008 have just been selected by a committee headed up by Jack Doyle and Laura Young, Sitka's Program Manager.
The Board is beginning a search for Sitka’s permanent Executive Director and we hope to have our new leader in place by the end of the year. I will keep you posted as the search process moves forward.
Thanks so much for your continued support. If you have any questions, please contact Carrie Hoops at the Sitka office, 541-994-5485, or myself at 503-222-3383. We would be happy to answer any of your questions.
Craig Kiest
Board President
