June Board Update

The Sitka board met Tuesday June 12 at Cascade Head. We are very pleased to announce that Jane Boyden and Laura Doyle are new board members. Jane Boyden, a musician and retired teacher, played a major role in the creation of the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. Laura Doyle former operations manager, Tektronix, is Sitka’s former business manager. We welcome their long-term perspective and their connection with the coastal community. With Laura and Jane on board, so to speak, we also all agreed to have two more new board members by the middle of September.
Carrie Hoops, interim executive director, gave us a one-month assessment during the June Board meeting. We will proceed with forming a short-term strategic plan to cover the next 18 months. We are beginning to talk about the process of hiring a new Executive Director and will likely have more to share about this process in August. Workshops at Sitka are progressing while planning is underway for the 2008 workshop season. Selection for next year's residents is being finalized, notifications have been sent.
