Technique
I use a combination of paint that is rather unusual. I like the non-water-soluble aspects of acrylic paint, but I also like the rich, matte look of gouache (opaque watercolor). I have found that by combining the two, (acrylics and watercolors) I can achieve the surface I want. I paint on 100% acid free crescent watercolor board, the surface of the cold press board seems to work best with the paint. I also gesso the board before I apply the paint.

Interests
Twenty years ago my husband and I began traveling to Mexico. Those trips as well as time spent in Croatia have strongly influenced my work. The scale of the paintings and the use of the solitary figure are reflections of my interest in Mexican figurative work. Cultural myths and personal experiences are used to develop a narrative in which I can explore psychological and spiritual meaning.

Favorite Place
Hvar Croatia ( an island in the Adriatic Sea)
