Born March 28, 1956, Portland, Oregon Medium Photography, pastel, oil, monotype www.dewit-marchant.com Technique All my techniques are very straight-forward: photographs are always unmanipulated and full-frame printed today on an Epson 7600 with archival inks; pastels are soft pastel (as opposed to oil pastel) on paper; oils are painted on either canvas or wood, using oil paint and various alkyd mediums (Gamblin products) and mineral spirits; monotypes are from plexiglass plates, painted with both printer's ink and oil paint, and then run through a press on various papers. Interests After more than 25 years of making pictures of one kind or another, I've come to realize that just living my life and paying attention offers me far more ideas and subjects than I could ever explore in a lifetime. The subtlety, beauty and complexity of the real world inspires my own personal interpretation of reality, which I then seem to feel compelled to describe visually.
