Gallery Twist Gallery, Real Mother Goose, Vitre International Glass, Caplan Art Designs, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Bloomingdales.Born September 16, 1970, Oceanside, California Medium Blown glass www.vitreluxe.com Technique My material is sand and a few other minerals to create glass. Usually my work incorporates ancient techniques like canne, murrine and or incalmo. My main interest is in murrine technique. Basically this is a mosaic technique. Typically I blow these murrine or mosaic patterns into vessels using simple handtools and a newspaper rag. The Wall Street Journal is my rag of choice. These processes are a way to create imagery and pattern out of glass strings and glass sheets. My intention is to offer the viewer a moment of mystery as they study the surface, the pattern and the contours of a vessel. It can be bold or subtle but always unique. Interests A few years ago I bartered a glass bowl for a plane ticket to Murano, Italy. This area of Venice is historic for fine glass making and an influencial place for glass workers worldwide. The experience greatly impacted my interest in developing my craftsmanship and exploring more complex methods. Favorite Place So far the most beautiful place is the point where the Havasu Creek flows into the Colorado River. Tepid water of icy blue, luminous from minerals in solution reflecting the sun.
