SUMMER VIEW
View from Maveety Courtyard, Sitka Center, July 2006.
Pondering the new year, the gleaming pathway of possibility, as driving rain spirals through the trees, helping top 100 inches in 2006 at Cascade Head. Seasons, the vision of artists, the passion of researchers (and travelers), swallows the mossy, layered slopes around Sitka Center. This wet season, so soon after the summer, hugs heavy and close all that moves. How near and how far each summer, the shaggy Sitka tree swaying across the way, thick and damp.
Yet, in this dark season twirling in time, over 70 artists, seed the new summer, plan for the next workshop cycle. Here at the Sitka office, rooted in the details, readying the summer catalogue for release by March 1. The fine work of Dee Moore, just prior to her departure last month, shaped the structure. Laura Young, arriving this week, will complete the form, as we prepare to offer the best of art and ecology to you. Seasons within the season.
