CREATIVE talents arrive for Spring Residencies
A printmaker, a writer, a ceramicist, a Recorder musician and composer, and an artist who documents clear cuts with rubbings and collages of tree rings of old growth stumps will bring their visions to the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology beginning in February. The five will reside and work at the Center through mid-May. The Residents, selected from dozens of applicants, will arrive from the U.S., Britain, and Germany. Learn more ».
SITKA 2020
Sitka 2020, Sitka Center’s strategic planning process, will take place in Spring 2007, with implementation anticipated beginning in summer 2007.The overarching goal is to envision the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology of the year 2020 as it celebrates its 50th anniversary and to describe the path to achieving that goal. SITKA ART Invitational to 2008
Recently the Board of Directors of Sitka Center for Art and Ecology decided to delay the 15th annual production of the popular Sitka Art Invitational (SAI) until 2008. The next Sitka Art Invitational will be an opportunity to build on last year’s success. However, there are several issues and opportunities related to the scope and timing of the SAI that the board would like to thoroughly evaluate through its long range planning process, “Sitka 2020,” occurring in the first half of 2007. WORKSHOPS Planned
Bear ceramic by Lisa Blacher, spring Resident at Sitka, will share work at Open House in April.
80 stunningly wonderful and creative workshops are planned for late April through September at Sitka Center. The 2007 Workshop Calendar and descriptions will be posted on the website by mid-February.
Registration will open for current Members and Donors as the print catalog arrives in late February. Non-members may register two weeks later, in early March.
We are very proud of the 65 professionals, artists, and natural scientists who will guide these focused and meaningful creative explorations.
