WORKSHOP Highlights
Highlights of some of the 75 workshops on the horizon:
Gary Braasch, a Nikon Legend, completed a new book Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World, published by University of California Press.

Diana Lynn Thompson, a leading Canadian environmental artist, embraces “Site Sensitivity, Reflection & Ritual, Ethics & Community, Pilgrimage, Mapping, and Habitat Creation.”
(June 4-8 at Sitka)
Diane Archer is featured in the current Oregon Coast magazine.
(3 jewelry/metal courses, June 4-11)
Frank Rudloff is an architect with SERA Architects, a leading green design firm.

Ken O’Connell, now exhibiting at Eugene’s Jacobs Gallery, guided Edmund Zimmerman, manager of La Romita School of Art in the Italian hill country of Umbria, to Sitka for visit.

OPEN Studios April 21
Please join us for Open Studio - Resident Artists at Sitka Center, Saturday, April 21, 3 – 7 p.m.
Presenting musician Verena Wüsthoff, writer Joanne Mulcahy, pit firing with Lisa Blacher, open studio with printmaker Wuon Gean Ho, art display by Ryan Burns, and special added attraction artists Patty Maly and Maggie Rudy. Sitka Open Studio is in collaboration with Lincoln City’s Earth Day Events.

RESIDENCIES for 2007-2008
Apply by April 21 for Sitka Center’s Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 Residencies for artists, writers, and natural science scholars. Residents are on campus October through mid-May, when public workshops are minimal. More »
VOLUNTEERS Acknowledged
Sitka is deeply appreciative to the many people and organizations who generously offered leadership, skills and caring to support Sitka Center in 2006. We are proud to acknowledge their committed and essential services and contributions.
In photo on the right, CaroleZoom is photographing the carving workshop instructed by Jay Haalik for a Portland Monthly article. CaroleZoom also photographed the 2006 Sitka Art Invitational and produced a fine commemorative book.
