Mary Brodbeck

Visual Artist

Mary Brodbeck has studied, employed and taught the traditional methods of Japanese woodblock printmaking since 1998. She learned this art form from Yoshisuke Funasaka in Tokyo, while studying for her MFA from Western Michigan University. Mary utilizes a visual language of shapes, colors and textures in her colorful images of land, sea and sky. Her residency at Sitka will be her first outside of her home state of Michigan and she is very excited about the opportunity to be immersed in a new environment.
