Explore the art and craft of clay while learning hand building techniques for sculpting ocean creatures. Participants will have the opportunity to design individually significant projects based on creatures of personal interest. While working on these sculptures, participants will also consider story, history and connections between their chosen animals and humanity. Facts about various ocean creatures will be shared, as well as specific techniques for achieving various textural effects. Projects will not be fired during the workshop, but information about firing will be shared for those who would like to investigate further, including the option to bisque fire works at Sitka and pick them up a couple of weeks after the workshop is over. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
