Workshop Overview

Discover a connection to plants through a process of deep observation. As we learn to create botanical watercolors, an intimate awareness of our specimens grows. Create a composition in the Linnean botanical illustration style, comprised of different parts of one plant species. Start by practicing foundation watercolor techniques through guided exercises and learn how to build up a painting using transparent layers. Drawing inspiration from the history of botanical illustration, we will collect our own specimens and paint them as if we are seeing them for the first time. Open to all levels with individual feedback and guidance. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
