Workshop Overview

In this workshop, we will create a collection of trace monotypes on a variety of papers, that are complete on their own or to be used as collage elements in your studio practice. Trace monotype combines drawing and printmaking, producing prints with an intriguing combination of line and tonal qualities. The Sitka grounds are abundant in botanical inspiration for this hand-pulled printmaking process.

About the Instructor(s)

Marcy Baker was introduced to monotype printmaking 25 years ago in Santa Fe, NM. She has taught the process for 15 years, including at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, Multnomah Arts Center and Whiteaker Printmakers. Marcy’s monotypes, paintings and collages have been exhibited in numerous solo, invitational and juried exhibitions nationally. Her workshops provide a structured and supportive environment for students of all skill levels.
