Workshop Overview

Over this three day mosaic workshop, we'll step through the process of choosing a design, cutting material into pieces (tesserae), prepping a 12" x 12" substrate, transferring a design to that substrate, tinting cement mortar, transitioning from one material to another, and creating a lively, expressive line of andamento (flow). Along the way you'll hone your cutting, setting, and design skills, learn how to create a gradient of tinted mortar, and discover the six fundamental rules of eloquent andamento (so that you can break them successfully when you wish!).

About the Instructor(s)

An award-winning professional mosaic artist since 2005, with an aesthetic steeped in materials analysis and innovation, Kelley began teaching her unique blend of contemporary and classically-influenced mosaic techniques in 2009. She's known round the world for her enthusiastic, inventive, yet technically-grounded approach to teaching, both in person and online, that regularly moves students beyond their own creative expectations.
