Workshop Overview

This workshop is a studio experience where participants write and produce a digital story, joining a personal narrative with images and sound. Participants craft and record narratives, collect still images and video from the Sitka landscape, add music to deepen the narrative and follow a process through peer response and instructor support to edit their stories. We will host a final showing of our work at the workshop’s close and depart with the tools to make our own short films.

About the Instructor(s)

Kim Stafford is the founding director of the Northwest Writing Institute and author of a dozen books of poetry and prose. In addition to Sitka, he has taught writing workshops at the annual Fishtrap Writers Gathering and at colleges and literary centers in Oregon and abroad. In May, 2018, Gov. Kate Brown named him Oregon's 9th Poet Laureate.
