Workshop Overview

The placement of a figure within an environment enhances the composition's visual statement. In this workshop we will consider expressive composition. Where a figure is placed can make a statement of repose, deliver a political message, or serve as a poetic tribute. The variables in composition can include the scale of the figure, the nature of the background and the colors used. We will study elements of composition and media, and also view paintings and drawings created by a variety of artists to explore what contributes to the creative statement.
