Workshop Overview

Explore the beauty and liberating aspects of painting in oil and cold wax. Cold wax medium offers the unique characteristics of translucency, body, texture and topography through layering. Artists of all levels will find that painting with this medium offers many possibilities from landscapes to abstracts. We will experiment with the medium from the beginning, starting with underpainting, followed by multiple methods of adding texture and line, and finally through the magic of blending oil and wax in multiple layers to bring out luminous color and texture combinations.

About the Instructor(s)

Lynne Wintermute has a BFA from Linfield College and graduate studies at Pacific Northwest College of Arts, and Universities in London and Dublin. She shows her work throughout the Northwest in invitational shows and is represented by Dragonfire Gallery in Cannon Beach Or. Lynne teaches workshops in Oregon and Washington as well as her Neskowin Studio. Lynne has taught at Sitka for several years in her preferred medium of Oil & Cold Wax. Her teaching philosophy is to learn by process, to work in a collaborative atmosphere and, above all, to have fun and enjoy the other artists in the workshop.
