Workshop Overview

Sitka Art Circles are a way to come together in a casual atmosphere and have a bit of artistic fun. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a newcomer to art or a seasoned artist.

In this session, learn about how to really observe nature down at the level of twigs, pine cones, flowers and rocks -- there's so much beauty to be uncovered! The act of carefully drawing accurate illustrations opens your eyes in a way nothing else can.

About the Instructor(s)

Nora Sherwood has a professional certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington and is a working artist on the Oregon coast. Her science illustration work is guided by Baba Dioum's famous quote: “In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we understand; and we will understand only what we have been taught.”

In addition to commissioned work for scientific journals, Nora shows work in galleries around the Pacific Northwest, and teaches workshops.
