Workshop Overview

An active sketchbook practice facilitates artistic growth. You will use a sketchbook for non-evaluative exploration, responding to mark-making and writing prompts with varied materials such as gouache, brush pens and water-soluble pencils. Responses from fellow workshop participants will help identify the unique patterns of your art making process and encourage a productive ongoing sketchbook habit. These visual and written responses will serve as a departure point for reflection on your artistic goals, and for recognizing the idiosyncratic patterns of your own art making. Exercises and prompts designed to promote an ongoing sketchbook habit post-workshop will also be provided.
