Workshop Overview

In this interdisciplinary workshop, we will combine writing, image-making and guided immersion in nature to create unique and expressive visual-verbal creations. You will learn ways to closely observe Sitka's spectacular natural environment as well as your ideas, dreams, memories and hopes in order to create expressive word-image creations. We will use low-pressure, intuitive approaches such as collage, small-scale sculpture, intuitive painting and drawing techniques, writing prompts and other fun process-based approaches. You’ll also learn about the thriving, inspiring world of contemporary visual poetry and its long history. No experience of any kind is required.
