Workshop Overview

This workshop will begin with participants making a single signature sewn watercolor journal filled with a combination of drawing, watercolor and writing. We will practice relaxation, awareness and enjoyment as we savor the beauty around us. Through the use of penwork, nature printing and collage, you will learn useful drawing and watercolor skills that will help you see in a new way. We will work on page design, quotes and page embellishments in the studio, and then explore outside. This workshop will provide plenty of support and encouragement. No art experience is required.

SUPPLIES: Most supplies are available at the Merri Artist, Artist and Craftsman, Blick and Columbia Art Supply (use your list for a student discount at most places)

• 1 full sheet 22" x 30" 140# coldpress watercolor paper (Arches, Fabriano, Winsor Newton,Lanaquarelle are all good brands)

Travel size watercolor paint box with good quality paints and decent colors

*IF you need to purchase one, I highly recommend ordering a paint box from me: 10 beautiful colors of professional quality watercolors in a small travel palette, $55. please order at least 2 weeks before class! This is an excellent deal if you want high quality pigments, already set up for you!

Other options: PRANG makes an inexpensive mediocre set. Most pre-made paint boxes are inferior quality and will be frustrating for you! Contact me if you've concerns.
