Ford Family Foundation Golden Spot Residency
Spring 2023

Katherine is a local painter born & raised in the Pacific Northwest. She paints in acrylic on canvas from photographs usually taken by herself, family and friends. She has been painting since the 1960’s part time until her retirement. Katherine was one of the artists that worked on the iconic murals in Portland at the Irvington Covenant Church.  Katherine along with Isaka Shamsud-Din, Paul Odighizuwa and Charlotte Lewis worked on one of the two murals that were a part of a neighborhood mural project in 1989 designed to train and employ promising young artists while fostering a sense of pride in the community and aiding in revitalizing the neighborhood.  You can still see one of the murals from the project at N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. & N.E. Shaver St.
