Nathan Huey

Dr. Nathan Huey is a recent graduate of the Biostatistics Department at Harvard University where he spent years building statistical tools leading to the discovery of novel genetic markers of breast cancer for his dissertation, On Inference in High-Dimensional Settings Via De-Sparsifying Techniques with Applications in Genomics. In 2021, he was awarded a Research Fellowship from the Harvard Kennedy School’s Arctic Initiative to study the intersection of Western science and indigenous knowledge systems. He collaborates in this endeavor with several members of the Sami reindeer-herding people in northern Norway. He is passionate about quantitative ecology, indigenous knowledge systems, and local foraging. An Ohio native, Nathan currently lives and works at the Sloth Institute in Quepos, Costa Rica.
