Join us for a look at Sitka Center's new 80-acre property known as Grass Mountain. You'll have the chance to tour Grass Mountain's residence, trails and historic sites while enjoying views from this remarkable property in the Cascade Head Scenic Research Area. Envision what future programs might look like here, and meet others who are part of the Sitka community as we dream big together!
Light refreshments and drinks provided, as well as live music, hands-on activities and short hikes and talks on the local ecology. This event is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring a lunch and find a spot in the expansive landscape to enjoy your picnic.
To attend, catch a shuttle from a free parking area at the Cascade Head Experimental Forest Research Station off Old Highway 101 in Otis (map to parking). Return shuttles will run throughout the day. The parking lot pick-up shuttle runs from 10:45-1:30; last shuttle back to the parking lot at 2:15pm. There is no shuttle service or direct access from the Sitka Center - you must park at the Experimental Forest Research Station to come to the open house.
