Jordan Schnitzer Printmaking Resident

Jenny Lind
Date of residency
2004

1942-2011

Jenny Lind spent her life depicting narrative and lyrical encounters of humans and animals – mostly on clay as well as a large number of prints.  Her drawings and innovative glaze work dance across her pieces. This, combined with a lyrical sense of color, give her work a fleeting whimsy and magic.

Santa Fe, NM, nurtured Jenny Lind for most of her life. Born and raised there, she continued to live in the stunning high desert city except for a few brief years when she attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and the University of California, Berkeley. The horses she grew up with, and rode, as well as the colors and wildlife of her mountain home are evident in her art. Lind made her career as a studio artist primarily producing functional ware. Since 1994 she and husband Allan Walter, and more recently their daughter Anna, have operated Rainbow Gate Ceramics where they produce handmade ceramic dinnerware, pottery and tiles featuring Jenny’s paintings in the glorious colors of the desert southwest.
