Workshop Overview

This class is for watercolor artists of all levels and will lead participants through a series of explorations as an introduction to Masa paper, a machine-made Japanese paper made from heavily sized sulfite pulp. When cracked and crinkled it looks like a batik and adds instant texture, giving paintings a new look using everyday supplies. The workshop will explore ways to edit a Masa painting, and mount the painting to paper, canvas, or panels. Each participant will leave with two or three finished pieces The focus of the workshop will be on experimentation and process.
