Workshop Overview

Do you have a stack of paintings that are unwanted, unloved, unfinished, and you just can't figure out what to do next? Who doesn't? Bring them in and let's turn them into interesting new work. Through techniques like texturing, negative and positive painting, mark-making, and more, we'll rework, reinvent and revitalize your original creations. Embrace the beauty of the past as parts of the original paintings often peek through, adding intrigue and depth to the finished pieces. Walk away with 1-3 completed projects and several works in progress, giving your once-overlooked artworks a fresh and captivating revival.

About the Instructor(s)

Pam is a water media artist who devotes her time to capturing the beauty of nature in the American West. She has successfully taught many painting workshops and enjoys helping all students discover new methods while using (or developing) their own unique artistic style. Her teaching style is supportive and encouraging. Pam's art is inspired by nature and nature's textures. She has been artist-in-residence at three national parks and continues to be inspired by her time there. She has been in many regional and national art shows and has received awards for her work. She is a signature member of Artists for Conservation and is represented by three Oregon galleries.

Materials List: Students Bring

Paintings you would like to rework -- we suggest 8 to 10 of these. We will have extras if you don't have that many. Any watermedia painting on any surface will work. Small amounts of collage and/or pastels are ok.

Watermedia paints of your choice. Bring colors you love, but be sure you have a yellow, a red, and two blues: one light and one dark. Try to bring a few of the colors you used in your "unloved" paintings ... but it is not necessary to bring all of them.

Brushes you like ... include some larger flat or wash brushes (1" or more) if possible

A palette, spray bottle, and water bucket

Gloves and an apron

Materials List: Provided by Instructor(s)
