The Sitka Center is excited to share that Nicola Harrison has joined our team in the new role of
General Manager. With year-round, seven days a week activity on campus, and growth through
our Grass Mountain project on the horizon, Nicola will bring her broad non-profit
administrative expertise to all of the systems and coordinated efforts that keep Sitka’s day-to-
day operations running smoothly.
For coastal youth arts supporters, Nicola’s name and body of work are likely familiar. For the
past five years, Nicola served as Executive Director for Community Arts Project, overseeing the
Art Literacy program, which provides over 500 students at the Nestucca Valley Elementary
School, Garibaldi Grade School, Nestucca Valley Head Start and Cedar Creek Child Care Center
with art education experiences free of charge. She also organized the annual Your Art’s Desire
and Slug Soup events.
In addition to her professional experience, Nicola has a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts and a
minor in Art History. She believes we are “lifelong learners and curious explorers, gaining new
skills and enlightenment in an endless stream of contact.” As an artist, she seeks visceral
occurrences, inspiring her contemporary artwork about the human condition. She is fun-loving,
joyful, and finds motivation in sharing the joy of art making and appreciation with others.
