Registration Open for New Writing Workshop
With Writer-in-Residence Kirstin Valdez Quade
Online Workshop
Date: December 12, 2020
Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Total Cost: $50
Skill level: All levels
Time and Tide:
Seasons, tides, the shifting phases of the moon, the journey of the hands around the clock, coffee spoons-there are so many ways we measure our lives. Storytelling is a linear artform: one word follows another as the story builds and progresses. Yet the writer has a marvelous flexibility to stretch and compress time. In this workshop, examining published short-short stories and prose poems, and through a series of writing exercises, we will bend time to our will. Participants will leave with several completed short pieces.
You can hear Kirstin Valdez Quade read from a story about bone digging in Australia, recorded at the September Show & Tell event and now available on the Sitka Center YouTube channel.
