Summer Youth Day Art and STEAM Camp

Beginning in July over 100 local grade schoolers will participate in a free, four-week long series of STEAM-inspired (science, technology, engineering, art and math) art and science workshops at Sitka's Youth Arts Day Camp. This year's theme is Fossils of the Future: Past, Present and Future Predictions. Participants will have the opportunity to create a variety of art ranging from cast replicas of Amber resin to illustrated science fiction stories. This program includes special guest visits from professional artists, scientists and educators as well as a full day of fossil-based workshops in collaboration with the Oregon Museum of Science (OMSI).

Sitka Center's Youth Arts Day Camp is a collaboration with and is held at Nestucca K-8 in Cloverdale, Oregon. Other collaborators and community partners include:

Juntos: is an Oregon State University extension of a national program working to empower Latinx students and families around education.

Oregon Museum of Science: works to inspire curiosity through engaging science learning experiences, foster experimentation and the exchange of ideas, and stimulate informed action.

Nestucca Valley School District: is committed to inspiring individual excellence, diligence, self-awareness and lifelong learning.
